skyscrapers f***ing bleed

(chicago, 2005)

I was pulling at the threads holding up seams of buildings
I was pulling at the threads of the universe's electricity
biggest collapse I've ever seen
to the threads' fibres waving in the window
what, it was falling apart anyway
I was pulling at the threads of skyscrapers

tell me one more time:
why was it built with so much empty land between the States?
I guess it was nothing until rust ate foundation
I can't help but kick corners off of brick brownstone flats
walls don't last forever
walls don't last forever
we hang on so many walls
but will we get kicked out?

take over my landscape now
these words were never meant to be sad
don't fall apart
come on let me
fall apart

it wasn't melting
it wasn't crumbling
all the flat surfaces were unhinged
not like the fall of Rome
not like the fall of the Aztecs

hell-fire!
hell-fire burn this city!
hell! hell-fire!
hell-fire burn this city!
